The Oscars reward the many artists responsible for a year’s best movies—whether their craft be acting, direction, costume design, music, or any other facet of filmmaking. But they always seem to forget one very significant detail of almost every movie – the CARS.
Certain movies are nothing without the car valuation . Half the movie’s attractiveness lied in the cars and in fact many a time audiences are lured in being enticed solely by the cars featured in the movies. So a “Best Automobile” category for the Oscars is a must. A number of used cars have been featured in a number if movies but never got any appreciation from the Academy and had to settle with the audience’s appreciation for them. For example, “Back to the Future'”s DeLorean DMC-12, “Jurassic Park'”s Jeep Wranglers, etc. Sothe list of 5 movies that definitely deserved to win “Best Automobile” award would follow – “Boyhood” – 1968 Pontiac GTO Alejandro Iñárritu’s direction and camerawork deserved considerable acclaim in the movie but what is shameful is that the cars did not receive a minimum appreciation. The 1968 Pontiac GTO featured in the movie had a compelling story of its own and made the audience go gaga over it. The movie lost to “Birdman” but it is a given that Boyhood’s 1968 Pontiac GTO was certainly more memorable than any of Birdman’s automotive victims. “The Wolf of Wall Street” – 1989 Lamborghini Countach This movie lost to “12 Years a Slave” in the Oscars of 2014. Set in the 1840s, “12 Years a Slave” could not showcase an overflow of throaty exhaust notes and revving engines but “The Wolf of Wall Street” successfully featured both. There was in fact a memorable scene with Leonardo DiCaprio in his white 1989 Lamborghini Countach in the film that caught everyone’s attention. Countach carries features ranging from scissor doors to a mid-mounted V12 engine. And although the movie could not carry the weight of “12 Years a Slave”, “The Wolf of Wall Street” surely deserved a “Best Automobile” feature at the Oscars. “Juno” – 1991 Toyota Previa The 1991 model J.K. Simmons drives in Juno features a 133-horsepower engine, and it is an all-wheel-drive, cab-over minivan. This car surely deserves an Oscar on the cool-factor, alone. “Little Miss Sunshine” – 1978 Volkswagen Type 2 The “The Departed’”s 1992 Mustang went up against “Little Miss Sunshine” and a 1978 Volkswagen Type 2 with a broken starter motor. Still Scorsese won an Oscar in 2007 for the movie and some consider it to be thus, a miraculous win. Mustangs have a charm of their own which many a time go uncontested up against any other car but it so does not stand a chance against Yellow Type 2. “Sideways” – 1987 Saab 900 Cabrio The featuring of Saab 900 Cabrio as Paul Giamatti’s car in “Sideways” was pure brilliance. These are includes among the little Swedish convertibles and have a rabidly enthusiastic fanbase. The car was so chosen that it can match the owner’s personality. It was intelligent, sophisticated and neurotic and thus portrayed the owner’s personality aptly. When you ask your personal financial advisor about purchase of cars, often the response is ‘go for the used cars’. Now they have a number of reasons to make you opt for the option. Probable reasons include –
There are a certain points which increase the resale value of the old car and they are
The second point is regular maintenance that is regular maintenance of all parts of the car so that it functions properly. The manufacturers these days ask to change the oil after 5000 to 10000 miles depending on the conditions of the driving. The tire pressure should also be maintained along with air filters etc. All of these different components needs to be checked regularly for the car to function efficiently. The third and very important point is to keep all the necessary documents about the vehicles properly. The servicing history is also very important to the other buyer. The fourth point is the primary document of the vehicle. The VIN or vehicle identification number report is like the car’s credit report which the buyer checks first. This report basically gives the full history of the car right from the showroom of the dealer to the present owner and how it has been handled, servicing, accidents etc. The fifth point is to keep mileage under control. There is a limit that a car can travel a particular mileage within a particular span of time. One should check that the limit is not crossed. The sixth point is exterior and interior of the car. The look of the car is very important. As it is said that the first impression is the last impression so you should keep the look of the car proper. If repainting is required then do it. Remove all your things from the interior, clean the seats and racks and do a complete clean up. The seventh point is similar to the sixth point that is keeping the car clean. When you are willing to sell it and showcase it in front of the buyer then you should see that there is no sort of dirt or stains or leftover food spills are there. Go for a complete clean up of the car before you shoe it to the buyer. The eighth point is appearance of the car. As said above the first impression is the last impression and appearance matters a lot of the car. Present it to the buyer as you has bought it from the showroom The ninth point is fixing all the problematic areas of the car. The tenth point is one should handle the car with care and not roughly. This is now facilitated with the help of countless online portals that offer the facility to compare cars based on the price, make, model and version of the car so that anyone can easily view a quick comparison between the various cars in order to get some idea about which car to purchase from the ocean of options. Various features and benefits of comparing cars in online websites: Today, huge numbers of websites have flooded the virtual world that give a golden opportunity to the buyers to get a detailed look into the various features of a car before purchasing the same. While purchasing a car, there are several factors responsible for determining the decision of choice of car. These can be summarized as below:
All these above-mentioned features can be compared in the online websites nowadays. These websites give some predefined options of comparison between some trending models of cars in the market. At the same time, it has an advantage of customized comparison of cars as well. In order to compare cars, an individual has to open the websites and provide the necessary details inquired by the websites such as the make, model and version of the car. Sometimes, the choices may be between two cars or at max between three or four cars depending on what the customer wants to select. Based on the specified details, the results will come from where the prospective buyers can compare cars and select an option judiciously. Rather than being confused by the car showroom dealers or executives, it is better to be self-sufficient in this regard as well and proceed accordingly for purchasing the dream car. When we purchase an item no matter what it is we think many a times before investing. Similarly when we sell an item we need to think that whether it will be attractive in the buyer’s eyes or not. The deal does not change at all when the item becomes a car. The one who is buying and selling need to think of the car’s worth. The seller should especially pay attention to the valuation because he has used the car and knows it condition and before he sets an unrealistic budget he should check the actual worthiness of his car online after making amendments in the car both in the exterior and interior wise. There are many sites online that provide car valuation. Basically car valuation is checking the price of the used car in the market presently. For selling the car you need to check the present price of that model, how much it is in demand and what value will you get in return. You first need to go to any car site and type in all the details of your car, mileage covered etc and see the value of your car. Then clean up your car completely. Remove all your things, fix any part if it needs to, wash it and if needed colour it too. After that you need to take ample of photographs from all angles of the car both interior and exterior and post it in the site with all the information needed to give about the car. Next is you need to deal with the buyers alone. Do not let a third person come in between because he will charge commission for his task. The buyers will bargain for the price but since you have already checked the value of your car and you have spent money in repairing and other stuffs include that money in the selling price and keep a little profit and say the price and stick to it. No matter how much the buyer bargains do not sell the car without keeping a profit because in future you will get more buyers. Further keep all the documentation ready for the car. Ownership, registration, service papers and whatever documentation you have about the item. When the buyer comes to visit and see the car keep it in a proper condition so that the customer is attracted to the item in first sight. Then point all the positive things about the car, do not miss out any single detail .If the customer agrees to buy then handover the documents after he has paid the full amount. Thus in this way you sell your car with what it is actually worth of and also you make some profit. |
